Darrell was born and raised in a flat, no mountain town called Montgomery, TX just north west of Houston. After graduating High School in May 2000, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and was first assigned to a Command in the San Francisco Bay Area of California where he found his love for mountain biking.

From there he traveled all over the West Coast from San Diego, CA to Port Angeles, WA taking his mountain bike with him wherever he went in search of  prime single track! Nowadays you will find him at any local trail in the state of South East Wisconsin, or at any Lake Superior Gravity Series Race/Festival, or out on the water working for the Coast Guard.

Darrell is married to his lovely wife Beth Strickland, a fellow mountain biker and native of Alameda, CA. Together they have a 10 year old mountain biker son, Hayden and two dogs who all travel around the mid-west with him to enjoy the same trails and festivals that he does.

Along with Dirt Labs, Darrell is also sponsored by Shore Line Cycle World (Team Shore Line) located in Hartland, WI and Knolly Bikes under their Knolly Grassroots racing program.
